MXR Flanger - what is the spec on the PS filter cap?
I have one of the old MXR Flangers with the AC power cord... I want to acquire a replacement axial PS filter cap for it; but I can't read any value on it. Any one know the value/voltage rating?

Can you point me towards what I'd be looking for? I've never opened mine up before, but I'll take a look if it'll help. I should be able to take a reading with a multimeter if I can locate it.

C24 400uf 60vdc min. should work
C20 after the regulator 10uf 30vdc min. should work
C9 2.2uf for Vs bias 15vdc min. should work
These are for an original mxr flanger model 117-4001 (1977)

Thanks Barry and Good Guest! I had trouble finding a schematic that had the Power Supply circuit. Finally found one so here it is:

I would like to get one of these, but not sure which one to get. Any word on the re-issue? Is the BYOC Flanger a better option?

Re: MXR Flanger - what is the spec on the PS filter cap?
I have the original and a BYOC kit.
I would get any original with the AC cord of ebay (there going for about $150). There is a nicer looking one there now to "buy now" at $165.
Apparently, all originals are not equal... some sound better...
The BYOC kit is a different animal; but, seems to be able to get the same sound. My thinking was to dial in the sound with the original; then try to duplicate it with the kit, so the original can stay safely at home. The kit is not cheap, and it is not an easy build; though its does come with BYOCs new footswitch connector which avoids the Medusa nest of footswitch wires!

All of the originals sound different. I had a few and while they were all cool. One just stood out in tone...and it is the one I kept.
I don't know if any of you guys noticed (or if it has been discussed before), but there is a design flaw with the flangers and if you look closely at the board, you will notice that the factory actually cuts a trace.

I didn't wanna say it, but yeah you probably have to accumulate a few to find a "good" one then sell the rest!
Please tell more about the trace mod???

Can you see it(trace cut) here? And there's the cap value. Are there 3 trim pots in these?

Re: MXR Flanger - what is the spec on the PS filter cap?
I have the 117-3001-103 version of the board, and that pin (IC4-6) is not cut. From what I can see the traces in that area of the board look the same. Perhaps that pin is jumpered to something else on the other side of the board. Does anyone know?
The most notable difference I can see between the two boards, is that on mine the large caps orientation is reversed.

I just opened up mine... it is like yours 117 3001 103 board. Mine has a cut trace right above the blue sprague cap. Like yours, the filter cap is backwards from the post pic. Also differing from the pic is that in the center left side of the board right next to the .01 cap, i have a 100k (or 10k) resistor. The pic above shows a cap. The traces in that area are different as well.
The S# is 17- 00552X
