The C e r r e m mod is all to do with C e r r e m and nothing to do with Ed.

hairy? pshaw!

origin? I got it from c e r r e m. did VH do it? i have no idea - but from my experience it is fun to play around with.

most reactions fall into three camps.
1. that is insane. I love my vintage plexi. i would never do that.
2. interesting. i might try that someday. when i have time. it won't blow up my amp will it?
3. i'm going to do that RIGHT NOW.

the mix is heavily weighted to the first camp, and understandably so. but hey, if you have an extra beat up marshall sitting around, and feel like taking a chance, the worst thing that can happen is you blow it up and have to rebuilt it (assuming you don't electrocute yourself). As always, the mod is potentially dangerous, can harm your amp if done right, don't blow up those old plexis, you'll go blind if you touch that too much, etc etc.

Sorry to divert the thread a bit, but I would like to know why there seems to be extra care in obfuscating the name of this mod compared to, say, naming Marshall, Echoplex, Fender, Gibson, Seymour Duncan, or EVH or other companies/brands/individuals?

I started wondering about this again after reading some of the stuff here:
http://www.mahaffayamps.com/aw99.htm
There seems to be another confimation that this was done to Ed's amp therein.

Here is a historical review that Twisty posted a while back:
http://forum.metroamp.com/viewtopic.php ... 0&start=39

Given what KOC says here:
http://www.pleximods.com/cerremmod2.html
I was thinking about fusing each of the four power tubes before I try this.

VHjunkie....you gonna try this? I remember(barely) when Evil Kenevil tried to jump the Grand Canyon in that rocket thingy. Everyone said not too.....but noooooo....he had to do it..... hmmmmmm kinda also reminds me of that coyote strapping an ACME rocket to his ass.....ah, that didn't work out too well either.

its weird he mentiones a reverb driver. I remember my cousin had a tiwn and we used t oconnect the reverb in and out with a y cord. it added a really nice overdrive to the amp.

I wonder if you could acheive similar results just trying it on the phase invertor ?? hhhmmm
you wouldnt have to find a high wattage res. Or is this the same effect of a cross line MV. ?

Because typing the name C e r r e m into this forum simply blocks the name so you can't see a darned thing.
Obviously there was a bit of a disagreement at one point between Chris M e r r e n and Metro, though I don't know what.
