I have the original Vintage, I liked that one best out of the others I have compared it to. I ordered the AC yesterday, so we'll see.

I've gotta be honest; although I did like the EP-3 pre, I was a little disappointed. IMHO, it misses the mark a bit.donbarzini wrote:I have the original Vintage, I liked that one best out of the others I have compared it to. I ordered the AC yesterday, so we'll see.

I agree but keep it quiet, Mr. Clinch doesn't like honest opinions.StuntDouble wrote:I've gotta be honest; although I did like the EP-3 pre, I was a little disappointed. Re: Badgerplex AC
yes, you won't find anything closer IMO. even though I preferred the Vintage Pre the best out of the Xotic and the Clinch, the AC tops them all, IMO of course, other men will have their favorite. When you step on it, it just has that big headroom, tight, clear feel going on, combine it with a tape-like delay of your choice and you are damn close to the real deal without the maintenance hassle or the musty stench emitting from the old parts.CheGuitarra wrote:Any reviews yet?donbarzini wrote:I have the original Vintage, I liked that one best out of the others I have compared it to. Re: Badgerplex AC
I received the B'plex AC today. I'm a bit short on time, but I put it through enough playing today to form a solid opinion.
To preface, it's been so many years since I've handled an Echoplex, that I can't recall much about the sound of the buffer outside of the obvious echo effect. Neither do I have any experience with other recent devices that claim association with an EP3 buffer.
In short, the B'plex AC is interesting because whereas an 'ideal' buffer would be sonically transparent when the effect itself is deactivated, the B'plex certainly isn't. The B'plex colors the sound in a manner that a full-range boost with mild EQ would. If this is the sound of am EP3 buffer, it raises some interesting thoughts. The effect is such that the sound of a treble-heavy post '67 Marshall Lead amp is fattened somewhat, given additional body with reduced nasal qualities. It does this without muddying the signal, and if anything, gives the impression of greater articulation. This being evident, I feel it lends credence to the rumors that several noteworthy players discovered the benefit of playing through the EP buffer full time.
On a final note, my testing was conducted with the B'plex placed between guitar and the input of the amplifier (Komet 60w). As far as how the sound is colored should the unit be fed a line-level signal from a dummy-loaded output of the amplifier, I can only guess (at this point anyway).

ClinchFx EP-Pre is the best, at least that's what Peter likes to hear, god forbid someone gives their honest opinion about comparing products nowadays without the internet lurking manufacturer jumping in. Maybe you should go get some of your EP-Pre supporters to jump in this thread as well, post your new Pete Thorn video too while your at it. What did that cost you, a free pedal?

OK, Joseph, since you invited me, here is a link to the Pete Thorn clip.donbarzini wrote:ClinchFx EP-Pre is the best, at least that's what Peter likes to hear, god forbid someone gives their honest opinion about comparing products nowadays without the internet lurking manufacturer jumping in. Joseph, now that I know who you are, I realise that you did buy an EP-PRE.
Then, there was this Donbarzini posting things like "kind of plastic" and "cheaply made" about the EP-PRE on a number of forums. It seems that almost all of the bad reviews of the EP-PRE have your name on them.
Joseph, if you decided that you didn't like the EP-PRE, all you had to do was email me and I would have been happy to refund the cost of the pedal

I have never argued against honest opinion, but I object to childish vendettas.
If MetroAmp has sunk low enough to tolerate this kind of rubbish, maybe my advertising dollars belong elsewhere.
Peter.

Re: Badgerplex AC
Exactly, you made the first and I liked what it did, then you had competition and I was able to compare against the one and only holy grail EP-3 preamp in a pedal format next to a real EP-3 and EP-4. I have my own opinion and no, you never did get back to me when I wanted another, maybe it was lost in email, I recall you were having problems at the time? This had nothing to do with it, I kept that pedal for months. This was a Badgerplex AC thread and I didn't mention any of my true feelings about your pedal, you mentioned them. I quit saying what I felt after you jumped me on TGP and started a whole thread about your product and called me a "criminal gangster" or something to that order. All I said here is Peter doesn't like honest opinions and you obviously don't, I don't need to back-pedal and I won't. Many men never owned a real EP-3 and ask which EP-3 pedal is best, since I had them all I feel I am entitled to give an honest opinion. Notice how the owner of Badger Effects never acts like this? There are men who prefer yours over his so who is the child? Just move on Peter and get over it. I am not commenting any more on this since I won't be buying any more of these types of pedals, there will be no better than the Badgerplex AC....clinchfx wrote:OK, Joseph, since you invited me, here is a link to the Pete Thorn clip.donbarzini wrote:ClinchFx EP-Pre is the best, at least that's what Peter likes to hear, god forbid someone gives their honest opinion about comparing products nowadays without the internet lurking manufacturer jumping in. Joseph, now that I know who you are, I realise that you did buy an EP-PRE. You then sent me the following email:
Peter,
Pedal just arrived, spent a few days in customs. I don't have an amp right now, back next week, but I really like what this does even in front of my computer sims. I would like to be put on the list for another.
Thanks,
Joey
I replied, telling you that you were on the list for another EP-PRE and I never heard from you again.

In my "honest opinion", comments such as "cheaply made" and "kind of plastic" are way beyond honest opinion, when our pedals are considerably better built than most.
