HIWATT tone controls

Post by myker » Thu Apr 21, 2005 1:24 pm

i have been checking out these hiwatts, they run their tone circuit off the anode instead of the cathode. i hear that this makes the tone controls actually work, but rob the amp of alot of distortion. imagine if those knobs really did something. marshall tone controls hardly do any damn thing. i bet it would be cool for a high gain amplifier...
any of you amp nerds know more about HIWATT's???

Just that as you suspect they're cleaner than Marshalls. Louder than shit. Wired so nice it makes most of us look like amateur chumps.
And I'd like one or two just for the hell of it. :D

TrainWreck Express amps use a plate fed stack in the first stage and those things are totally high gain amps. Theyre like brown sound in a small package amps.
