I was sending dimensions to a gent this evening, that was looking to build an accurate reproduction of a tweed Champ cab. To my surprise, through the tattered corners of mine, I found that the top fascia board(where the logo goes), was only 1/4 inch thick......Most new builds, and plans on the net, have those top and bottom boards at 3/4.
Can anyone out there verify the width of those pieces on an original 5e3?
I'm also looking for confirmation on the width of the finger joints, for any tweed you may have. Mine come in at 1/4, despite the recurring new plans that show 1/2.
Thanks in advance.....

Re: Original Tweed Cabinet question
The original was closer to 5/8" but you got it. It's NOT 1/8!
Somebody was just trying to save money by skimping on material.
You are absolutely right, the finger joints are 1/4" The plans are trying to save labor.
You want an original or a compromise?

Re: Original Tweed Cabinet question
Thanks for the reply!
I'm checking off an original, 5f1 though. The fascia on this is 1/4 - at best 3/8. 5e3 comes in at about 5/8. Is that correct? That's a little thicker than I expected...
Thanks for the correct 5e3 finger width. Makes sense, twice as much glue, stronger corner. Although, the inside corners on those smaller fingers had a tendency to chip out.
Always nice to make it proper.
