Its just that my guitar manager is a total PRS lover and always claims to get Les Paul tones out of his PRS. I bet he sleeps with those guitars. The only PRS i do like is the McCarty pretty much because of its neck, pickups, and playability. But that's it. I just don't think i would ever get one.

CBS -

I was a die hard LP guy, but after buying a McCarty I kind of changed my mind. To me a McCarty sounds a little like an old 50s LP, but has a slightly different flavor.

After that I got a PRS Hollybody II, and it is also a great guitar. The thing I like about it is that it is sort of a cross between an ES-335 and George Benson model in tone and is really light and sustains great.

Wanting a non-strat tremolo, I also got a Custom 22. This guitar is more non-old-school ROCK than the others, but is more versatile. I did make sure I got the Wide/Fat neck carve, which makes PRS more playable to me. It also is set up with a normal 3 way toggle.

I agree that PRS are not just like Les Pauls, but they are great guitars in their own right. I think you're manager should just enjoy his PRS for what it is. The best LP is going to be a great LP, not another brand.

News flash guys. I'm trying something radical with my Les Paul.

I'm scrapping my BurstBucker's and getting Seymour Duncan Seth Lover's with 4-conductor wiring. This 4-conductor configuration, with push/pull CTS pots on the tone knobs, will be used for coil tapping so i can get some awesome single-coil sounds that i've been envying PRS for having. Needless to say, i'm pretty excited about this, but not so excited about doing the complicated wiring. Either way, i'll have a full report of this badassness in 2 weeks fellas.

Hey Shane the wiring shouldn't be too bad. Duncan has all of the wiring diagrams at their site as well as including a diagram with the pu's.

Yea i saw the diagrams. There's just a lot of shielding and shrink wrap that Gibson did in my control cavity. Gotta go through all that garbage and be extra careful.

I recieved a pu from Genesis Sounds. It is the Browney model and is supposed to be a EVH type sounding pu. It is usually compared to the Duncan EVH with most saying it sounds much better. I have had the pu a week now and really like it a lot. I first tried it in a late 80's Kramer Pacer and it sounded great in that guitar. It is now living in my Orville LP standard.

Last nite I tried various other pu's in my Kramer and nothing can come close to the clarity and warmth the Browney had in my Kramer. I may have to order another.

Pu' that have been in my Kramer include:

Duncan SH-4 JB
Duncan SH-5 Custom
Duncan SH-1 59'
Gibson 500? not sure but it is a pretty hot Gibby pu hotter than my 498T

All of these pu's just seemed harsh or muddy in my Kramer.

The Browney reads about 9.1K and sounds VERY close to George's T-top that he has in his LP.

I changed the Antiquities in my LP to www.crcoils.com Fillmores a few months go. I wanted something closer to Duane's Fillmore East sound, plus I wanted something with more kick. I've been hearing about these for a while, read the reviews and listened to the clips and was impressed. So I took a chance and bought a set.

Boy am I pleasently suprised. These thngs sound great and as an added benefit, don't lose clarity when the volume knob is turned back. I like I said, I've had them for several months now and I still really like em.

I've used Seymour Duncan JB's for years, lots of nice mids. Their dirty sound is awesome, and it seems to fit me just perfect. But their clean sound is where they lack. I think they're just too hot.

I even bought a couple of their JB Jr's for a couple of my strat's.

Still have my EVH it's a single wired one.......get me a browney in exchange, if you like it you keep, if not send it back, I'll do the same and compare.........
