when i was on work experience with my school recently at a place called konsberg maritime where they make underwater diving cameras which i made 1 but back to the point i had to build a radio there just a maplins kit which was a piece of piss great fun but a piece of piss but it is good just for getting the basics and learning how to solder and i got my radio and it works perfectly and is loud. You should get your kids to build a small signal generator which is even easier but it is much more fun because you can connect it to an amplifier and really annoy the neighbours  but i used it on my goodmans for a while just to see what like it was and it was ok but didn't make much of a differ to the sound until i connected my 100 watt ss amp to them.
Me and my dad stopped spendin so much time together because his health is not the best and he just keeps putting me down so i do my own thing but i wish sometimes we could play guitar together and sometimes we do but his heart is not in it because of emotional problems.

i am 15 and i want to build and tweek my own amps and stuff , cab is getting build in a couple of months and then it is time to raise funds for the speakers and 68 PA kit lead to go with it.

Can't go wrong with old Dynaco stuff. They're kinda like the Fender or Marshall of old hifi. They made the most popular stereo tube amp of all time, the Stereo 70 (ST70). Other popular models are the ST35, Mark II, Mark III, Mark IV, etc. Most were manufactured from the late fifties through the early seventies.

There are plenty of original units on Ebay. The ST35 chassis is the only part I can think of that isn't being reproduced by the aftermarket. Like guitar amps, you can do a simple restoration or piece a clone together. There's no shortage of vendors that cater to the Dynaco crowd, offering kits of original circuit rebuilds to high performance audiophool mods, and anything in between. Most of the different preamp boards are made on PCB's, so installations are easy.

The separate Dynaco preamps are also popular and have lots of aftermarket support.

There also online forums and sites dedicated to Dynaco equipment.

Man, I got enough projects and now you're making me want to break out the Dynaco ST-70 and PAS-2 from my dad's basement.....I have his Acoustic Research AR-4 speakers in the next room......and his Dual turntable from about '64......

I'm almost ashamed to admit that I've got about 20 Dyna amps with different upgrade kits stashed away. ST70's, Mark IV's, ST35, SCA35. What good do they do me in storage? I wish I never got bit by the guitar amp bug!

Dual turntable? I had a couple of those. Very smooth. The platters would turn forever with a little push. I've upgraded to Rega for vinyl.

Man, would you want to sell me one of the kits? I know I could do ebay but why bother if you've got a lot of them stashed.

I'd love to rebuild an amp so I could get my kids into hifi!! :)
