I thought I remembered reading some posts at univalve.com were the New Sensor Mullards were not even close. They were sayin NS has the name but isnt even making a real effort to make a legitimate Mullard. Dont know if thats true but those guys are tube phanatics. Theres more talk there about the new GT EL34M Mullard.

I've seen some comments at PP (i think it was at PP) that they ain't real Mullards but they do sound pretty good taken as their own animal.

Of course they aren't the real deal, but i'm just interested in what type of sound they get. However, my gut tells me i'll be sticking with JJ E34L's.

Didn't George try the New Sensor "Mullards" in his '67 on the gig and give a little sound description somewhere here?

Never heard of that review. I always thought that he just reviewed the 12AX7M's.

Ive been readin posts about them over at vintageamps.com and those guys dont have many good things to say. Theyre not Mullards or even real copies. Just a bought out name on a box and a premium price tag. Though most of those guys seem to think theyre still as good as JJs or most production tubes theyre not mullards, dont really sound much better then current production but are 2x the price. I can totally believe that. I dont think Ill be spending $100 for a name even if its a tiny bit better then the tubes Im using now. I am curious now to see some reviews of the GTEL34Ms. Im sure theyll be expensive as hell but if it makes a real improvement thats fine. All in all when I first heard about the NS Mullard buyout thing I more or less assumed theyd be pretty much the same tubes with a premium price for the Mullard name and while I havnt tried them I dont think I will. Has anyone here actually tried them yet?

Yeah their attitudes are always cork sniffing close minded but I have no trouble believing this because its exactly what I would expect. They buy the name which is the important part. They revamp a few things maybe or excercise a bit of higher QC. Then they charge twice the money. Its what I would expect and I wont even think of buying a set unless someone I respect happens to give a realistic review that they make a real improvement over the normal current tubes.

What's great is that the purists over there hate the fact that George is making Super Lead clones that sound as good or better than there vintage amps. Now that is what i call funny.

Im sure they do. After they spend thousands on a vintage amp and Im sure many dont sound that great themselves.
