Got my SoZo caps yesterday and put them into my 66 BM today. Not enough time to tell what they are going to add to the sound. Still, this amp sounds great.

Here's a chassis pic as I got it from eBay:

Here's how it looks now:

Here's the front...the tolex was re-done when I got it and the head cab is not original. I added the grille cloth. (Home made 2-10# cab.):

This is a mutt if there ever was one! But, it's a great gig amp for rock and roll. More to come on the SoZos.

Let me know how those sozos sound in the bassman :D You can tell from my Avatar that i'm a Bassman fan. I play my through a vatar cab loaded with Celestions, a G12H30, and a Vin30...a LOVe this amp. I recent chnaged tubes to JJ 6V6S...WOW breaks up early ...not as much head room, but a great classic rock/ blues tone.

Ken,

I'll post an update as soon as I can crank it a bit and I have a non-SoZo 67 Bassman that I'll use to compare the sound.

After I fixed the original mess, the amp has just sounded great...all the time. :D

Man, it looks like that thing had seen some modding done. Lotsa resin from soldering around all the eyelets.
But I really liked SoZo's in one of the incarnations of my '68 Bassman (I think I used them for the AA864 wiring job.) And I used them again in its current John McIntyre turret board from the DIY forum.
Might order them for my Bassman 100 Dumble ODS project too. Haven't decided, the Dumble chassis shots look like Orange Drops were common, and I sure have plenty of Drops around that need used up......

You use rosin core on a Fender board material with eyelets more then once they get like that. PITA.

It looks like you went with something like .022 for the output couplers? Did you mean to do that? Fenders almost universally .1 in that position.

Billy/Flames,

It was modded when I got it and my soldering added more "Stuff". Guys, can I clean up the rosin? Does it matter other than losing points for neatness?

Next, the AB165 circuit had .022s as the output couplers. I kept them the same.

I haven't found a good way to clean up the rosin once it's sat around a while. I think there are chemicals available for cleaning it up as you go.
Like Hazy says, AB165 Bassmans had .022 output couplers. AC568's got .047's. 50 watt Bassmans continued to get .047's after that, 100 watt Bassmans went back to .1's.
