For any of you Bogner XTC owners......
Have you tried bypassing the speaker switching and attenuator and direct out switching (assuming yours came with this option) on the output side of the OPT? I thought about taking the OPT secondary wires direct to the impedence switch and then to the speaker jack (like a good old Marshall). Supposedly it gives the amp a nicer feel... More spongy I guess and better dynamics? Has anyone experimented with this? Just wondering if it's worth the trouble.

Those features robbed tone, and yet we still have the "lego cap in Bogner" post from you Brent. Strange world Reinhold lives in, huh?Brentsp wrote:I have the recent version so I wouldn't know. Though Reinhold did remove those particular features because it robbed tone.
Don't even get into mounting power tubes to a PC board, just don't go there.

The amp still sounds great but just seems to be a little congested sometimes.Flames1950 wrote:Those features robbed tone, and yet we still have the "lego cap in Bogner" post from you Brent. Lego cap, Flames? What's that all about? The funky coupling caps or something?

There couldnt be any 2 amps more different in construction then my old 100B and my SLO. The Bogner, for all its cost and high end, looked more like a DR inside or a DSL. The SLO is PCB as well but the things built like 10 brick shithouses.
My Bogner didnt use Lego caps just PC mounting poly caps that were square. Is that what you call lego caps? Cant you get ODs and Mallories the same composition but made specifically for PC mounting? Or are they very different?
