WET DRY SIGNAL Help

Post by dad99_2000 » Sun Apr 24, 2005 5:08 pm

I am getting a hotplate and it has a line out and dummy load ability. I have read that eddie van halen and others have put their effects after there line out then in to a power amp then in to a cab. All this time I have put effects like Guitar-Phaser-Amp so im just curious how does this work.

Thanks for the help

I'm curioud also, would you run one cab from the Hot Plate dry, and then another from the line out wet. It would be a full stack with one cab wet?

I would take one from the hotplate speaker to a cab for the dry signal, attenuated or not your choice, and run the other from the HP di through effects and a poweramp/wet cab. The thing is most people are under the impression EVH used effects after the load box but I tell you listening to his phaser, flanger and delay sounds from the early records they are NOT after the load box. They are before the amp. It a very distinct sound before and after distortion with those effects and while it is easy to be fooled with the sound he gets its pretty distinct. Its verified by witnesses and photos. His pedalboard was before the amp. As far as chorus and other stuff a few albums in Im sure he took advantage of the studio more.
