Tape Delay

Post by dad99_2000 » Wed May 12, 2004 11:28 pm

How does a tape delay work in the signal chain where does the input come from the amp or the guitar and the output goes directly to the amp right?

I would think it would come from the guitar, but usually you'd want any delay effects AFTER the distortion. However I've never used a tape delay unit.

George?

The classic Echoplex goes between your guitar and amp (I suppose you could run it in an effects loop, but I don't think any of us here even HAVE a loop!!)
We're not talkin' pristine diggy delay here--the warmth and slight distortion in front of the amp are the BEAUTY of tape delays!!
I wonder if my buddy Joe still has that damn Echoplex.....

Hey man, what you want to get is a wem copicat (watkins) they are really easy to use because there is none of this digital shite involved!!

I've got a wem copicat and I plug my distortion pedal and guitar into one input and I put the output cable which is built into the unit straight in to the amplifier and turn the swell control on (power switch as well) and I then press one of the three of the record heads and that is you on the way to tapeloop heaven!!!

dad99_2000 for more info go to www.wemwatkins.co.uk

Hope that helps
