Hi Folks i am currently looking for a fender blackface vibrolux reverb (i wish) or super reverb and was wondering who in your opinion makes the best clones of these amps.
Been looking at headstrong and vintage sound any advice on these amp makers would be much appreciated, also if any one has gut shots of fenders 64 custom vibroverb i would like to see the workmanship
thanks in advance and best wishes

Here's pics of a BF Vibrolux Reverb replica (?---not sure what to call it) i just built-----i got an empty '67 Vib Rev cabinet a few yrs ago---had orig Oxford speakers and reverb tank, but no amplifier chassis.
The repo amp chassis/faceplates/eyelet boards i got in a bundle from an ebay auction---all iron from AES (Magnetic Components-Chicago)---other parts here and there.

Last nite my friend brought over his orig 1960 Jazzmaster and we played for hrs---it's sounding good----- the orig Oxfords were toast so i got the new Jensens---the orig reverb tank was also toast so i used a tank from a 70's Twin Reverb project amp i have (future rebuild)----the new speakers are breaking in nicely-----i've gotten nothing but pos comments on the tone from many who've played it so far----soon when the new speakers are well broken in i'll put in premium output tubes (RCA Blackplates) and take it over to A/B test against my friend's real '65 Vibrolux Reverb.

Hi thanks for the reply, she sure looks sweet dont know whether i could build an amp yet as i dont have enough technical knowledge so was looking for a good handwired example or a good clone.

I have the 65 super revreb ri at the moment good amp but not as easy to service, I was going to clean the pots when i put in some nos 7581a and a mullard gz34 but i would of been a pain in the arse to take it apart because of the pcb.

So i am thinking of the handwired route for ease of servicing.

thanks and best wishes

Check out Clark Amps.

That guy makes the best Tweed and Blackface amps around.

You would swear you are looking at a brand new Fender amp on the inside.

A friend just got this one called the Beaufort Reverb.
It is a clone of the Deluxe Reverb.
I had it built with 6L6 rather than 6V6 but he can use both.

Allen amps are very good as well.
Not quite as faithful of a reproduction of a blackface but they are decent.
They are a little bit modernized in their design over the vintage circuit.

I know a few guys that have built them and they like them a lot.
I think they have a raw control which I believe is a variable negative feedback control so you can dial in some loose rawness if you like.

A friend had the 65 Twin reissue and we opened it up to bias. It didn't look bad at all. Yes, it was PCB construction, but the pots and tube sockets weren't pcb mounted. If the super is made the same way, I don't think they'd be any more trouble to service than any other amp.
