bogen chb-50 pa head help.

Post by dizmaloner » Sat Oct 09, 2010 3:17 am

hello all, new here and pray i can trouble the guru's here to grant some of their knowledge. i just acquired a bogen chb-50 pa head with the intent to turn it into a guitar amp. the chord was cut so i added a 3 prong plug, and grounded the green wire to the chassis, plugged it in picked up my guitar chord and got a nice little jolt. same deal touching the volume pot. anyone have any info for me as to what may be going on? i have done this same procedure a couple times prior to this and have had no issues. also someone had already tried to mod it, they bypassed the power switch amongst other things that i can see were changed. id like to get it close to stock so i can hear it before i mod it, im getting power to the tubes but no sound and the chassis is not grounding for some reason. im fairly new to amp building and my schematic reading is still not up to par, so any info/help would be much appreciated

Depending on what is going on in that circuit, grounding the chassis could be a good or a bad idea. Any schematics for this amp?

where abouts in the world are you, I would get that amp tested immediately there is a broken ground somewhere. check your grounds are good with your multimeter
