I am trying to improve my bandmaster again. I just got a 65 2x12 bassman cab with the original c12n's for it which is pretty sweet. I am thinking about making another attempt at modding the vibrato channel to a bassman like cathode follower tone stack(thanks for the help flemingras). Anyways, I have been reading a lot lately about people who think the stock ot is too weak and causes the tone to suffer. I am already pretty happy with this amp as is but would like to know what differences the ot would have on the tone. I wouldn't mind having a little more beef and twang at my disposal. Is there any difference between the ot in a blonde 6g6 and the blackface ot?

I don't think there's much difference between the blonde and blackface OT's but I am not sure.
The usual mod is to get the blackface Bassman tranny and mount it on the Bandmaster. It's bigger so you may need to drill holes. You'll get more power and tighter bass with the Bassman OT.

I have a Bassman tranny in my less modded BM head. Its definitely a more open sound. I think it may give you the beef and twang you need.

cool thanks, I have also been curious about adding a tube rectifier to the mix. Is it possible to leave in the solid state rectifier and have a switch between the two? Probably more complicated than I'd want to get into but I really like the sound of the vibroluxs and other similar fenders. Just curious about my options.
