Just scored a Martin HD-28

I know this is an amp/amplified guitar site and have plenty of each, but just got my first really good acoustic. Unbelievable tone. This guitar just rocks. Set up, fit, and finish are just outstanding. After just one day, it seem to make me play better.

I'm really happy with my Gibson Sheryl Crow Signature (yeah I know) model but it came down to a close call between it and a couple of 28's. The Gibson sounds more "rock and roll" but the Martin's are so balanced and beautiful, there's a reason why its the dreadnaught by which all others are judged.

D28 for me too, I got a real good one a while back, it's the last 6 string acoustic I'll ever need. They're like strats, so much variation. Some sound great while other ones just don't seem to cut it, sounds like you got a good one though. Try a set of 014's de-tuned to D, max .013's in concert or you'll pull the neck right off. I bought a Simon & Patrick dreadnought 12 string a few months back and play it more than the Martin ( I've got it detuned to low C with heavy guage, bitchin' ) Check one out if you can. Real even, grainy tone and set up really well out of the box.

I have a D28 and it is a great guitar. That classic Martin tone. I just bought a Taylor 814CE for stage use and it is also a wonderful guitar.
