Peavey Classic 30: any good mods?

Hey all,
I have a Classic 30 that is really the reason I started building amps in the first place, the overdrive sucks. I mean it is great for 70's country fried rock.. but...
Does any know any good mods, preferred component changes, I can do to kick the Preamp Overdrive in the rear end?
Here is the Preamp
The K1 relay switches the overdrive in and out.
After the relay, the signal goes through one more gain stage, then to the tone stack.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
I know this isn't really changing the preamp but I tried putting a celestion vintage 30 and after that a tonetubby hemptone in my sister's amp.The vintage 30 was okay but the tonetubby opened the amp up perfectly.I think the stock speaker has kind of a harsh upper mid/low treble thing going on,but not enough high presence.The tonetubby opened up the presence frequencies and cut the harsh upper-mid.

This isn't a mod,
but I know alot of guys get some really nice sounds
by using a dist./boost box to kick the front end's ass
on the clean channel.....

Yeah.. I can run a pedal...
but then what is teh point?
I'd rather make the amp scream without pushing it with anything out in front.
I like Guitar--> Amp setups...
with a Wah every now and then...

Here's a good one:
1) Pull chassis.
2) Mod it into a horseshoe shape with a 10-lb sledge.
Sorry, I have a deep seated irritation with all things Peavey......

I disagree. I think the classic series can be a great working man amp with some slight mods.
Check out this link, some great peavey mods:

Change the speaker to a weber, replace the tubes with some J.J 's from Bob at Eurotube, and you can get a great vintage fender tone from those amps.
I had a modded Classic 50 for years...great amp. I pulled the peavey logo off and EVERYONE always raved about my tone...people assumed it was a vintage fender.
