I just received this in an email from New Sensor:
New Sensor is happy to announce that we've acquired the rights to both the Mullard and Tungsol trademarks.
After years of development, our expert team of vacuum tube designers has re-created the best series of these famous tube types that has ever been marketed.
My intial impression is that they have aquired the trademarks and are simply relableing Russian tubes with the Mullard and Tung-Slo names. This will prove interesting......

Relabing and not recreating, right?

That's what I'm betting.

First Svetlana now Mullard...
The New Sensor Svetlanas aren't the same as the real SED =C= tubes. But then again I've heard good reports on them. The Sovtek and EH tubes aren't my favorites, but others love them.
Personally, I really like the new GT-12ax7Ms, JJ EC83S, Ruby Chinese 12ax7s and SED EL34s (the JJ EL34s are cool too), so I'm not in a hurry to switch. I'm sort of skeptical about how close in sound they'll be to the real thing. Remember, the WXT+ that "sounds like a Mullard"? Uh, not even close.
I think if EI could ever get it together on QA, they'd be a great tube company. New Sensor has generally supplied reliable, if not the most toneful, tubes ever. Will the new tubes be any better?
IMO, for now, I think the GT "originals", the SEDs and the JJs are the best choices.

Yeah, I think EIs problem with QA is finances over anything. Their economy sucks over there in Yugoslavia I think.
BTW, WXT+ models on Sovtek tubes have no difference in tone. Example, a Sovtek 5881 and a 5881WXT+. Same exact tube, however the WXT+ indicates a full size base whereas the standard 5881 only has a wafer style base. I have no idea why they even waste their time with wafer bases, but oh well.

I have three of the Ei gold elites and they've been great in the reliability department. Sound good too!
