you can't use an A/B box with 2 heads going to one cab as there is not a load on one of the heads when not in use.

an AB box as well as not providing a load on the bypassed amp will also have a ton of ground hum when connecting 2 amps. The 2 amps need to be isolated from each other in most cases.

As I read more about this device and the Access Electronics switcher which is basically the same thing is you can't use a delay in the loop because the load resistor that is on the bypassed amp is too small to handle a speaker out it is just for the amp at idle.

I need to be able to use delay on one of my amps. So the more I read, the less appealing these boxes are.

The idea is great they just need to incorporate a better dummy load for the bypassed amp.

I could easily blow a couple of grand on all ToneBone's stuff.
Anyone got a couple grand I can have??

Would running a dummy load off of the amp (parallel to the speaker/Headbone) keep the amp safe when bypassing with delay or would it burn up the small load resistor in the Headbone?

The thing you need to do is also switch the guitar signal from amp to amp. That way the amp that's not in use is just idleing. And a small load resistor will work just fine.
I thought that's how the headbone works?????

The repeats from the Delay is what their saying will cause the problem because the delay is in the FX loop of the amp. So if I used the amp with delay for a lead sound and then went back to my Rythm amp it would still have a couple of repeats on the delay.

I gotcha. I should read the posts better.

There would be some delay signal, but unless it was a long delay with a lot of regeneration it should be OK. I wonder what size the load resistor is in there? And if there's room to modify it with a larger one........

I've got the Tonebone Switchbone and always run 2 amp's for the most massive tone you have ever heard. It is more than just an A/B box as these do not provide for load correction. Believe me I've also got an A/B box and there is no comparrison in sound.

I wonder how easy it would be to have a jack added to it so you could plug in a dummy load and bypass the internal resistor
