It's another subjective effect Myker. I personally like the Boss DM-3 that I have but I don't use a lot of delay for anything. Just to add some extra sparkle to my leads. Are you wanting something that you can set to repeat to play over, ping pong in stereo, etc... I never saw any use for that live so I never got too heavily into delay pedals except for what I mentioned above.

I'm going to build my next one. It seems to be the only way I can hang on to stuff. If I buy off the shelf pedals I ALWAYS end up selling them. But with my hand made pedals I hang on to them.
www.buildyourownclone.com has a new delay kit that looks pretty cool.

I think thats an echoplex. Good luck with that. Even the clones are at least $1k. Id say get a digital. I love analoges but their very lo-fi and dark sounding which wont help with that. People have this idea that echoplex's or tube/tape's in general are warm and dark. The ones Ive played are bright as hell. Very clear and present. Thats the way they sound to me on record too. And for that sound Id say a digital before the amp is fine. The amp with any amount of gain on it will compress the hell out of it anyway. As long as you dont try to sustain notes and play real staccato like the song you mentioned or 'Aint Talking Bout Love' then you can get away with a delay before the amp. Otherwise youl get the real time notes your playing and the repeats from the delay compressed and overdriven together as if you were playing intervals on the guitar. A cool sound on its own though. Think 'Nothing As it Seems'/Pearl Jam, or 'Time'/Floyd.

dude.....try a Line6 DL4. I know what you're thinking, "not a modeling POS" It sounds very nice. $250, and if you don't like it, take advantage of GC's return in 30days.
