In the case of my UA clone, the torroidal supplies 30v rails to power the bi polar transistors, unlike the the Alex which uses the torroidal as a simple inductor, all be it with some neat little variations.
Ok, I see. With no fan I was thinking you no longer needed a power supply.

Yep, its a re amp in a box in its most basic form, so it needs a supply. Gotta love the Plexi purists who claimed it was the holy grail...............didnt realise their precious sound was comming from a SS circuit. LOL :palm:

In the case of Fretwires problem I'm wondering if he simply not a bad inductor. It makes no sense for it to blow the amp fuse. If you try it again add an equal load to your other output and drop you amp output impedence and see what happens. I realized I said "wax" earlier  , what I was thinking was thinning out a heat resistant epoxy of some sort but using the same process as wax potting.

That's a nice attenuator build!

If your refering to my comment above, I didnt mean you. Just the cork sniffers in general who loved it till they found out what they were using, lol. Ive said it all along, it has no right to sound as good as they do. Especially the way they're built.

Do you think I can ask Ho directly instead of Mark?.

I just wanted to fix those 2 things and sell it.
Contact Ho directly.
yea contact him, I have talked to him many times he is a great guy. Hee is a link to his web site that has his phone number

No, I know! I'm one of the guys in the crowd that actually tried one and thought it sounded odd, but never said anything. Maybe back when there were few good alternatives people though it was good. Maybe mine was broke?

I'm messing around with a configuration that resembles a 4/12 cab wiring.

Kinda feel like we are hijacking your thread Fretwire! Sorry about that. Hopefully this will help though.

Might this inductor also work?

That is a beautyful build!
@ evhOu812,what kind of transistors have you used?
I like to build one myself, i hope you want to share :)

I did a little search at my local electronics supplier and found BD245/246C transistors.
This are 100volt/15Ampere transistors(no darlingtons)in a SOT93 housing.
Are these useable?
