No way. I love my MM it has that great lofi analog delay sound that really warms up the sound and can really get the EJ vibe but it is noisey as hell. TB is a must. The Maxon stuff is supposed to be the ultimate for vintage analog delay tone though super quiet and longer repeat times. But my experience with analogs and tapes are that they are probably the most different sounding delays. The analogs Ive had are dark as hell. Lofi, like I said. TT's are bright and clear. Digitals are just accurate. My favorite use for a digital is to set the repeat time for like 5000ms with one repeat and kill the direct signal so I can play licks then listen back to how my tone sounds without having any recording gear color it up.Redstone III wrote:The EH MM is supposedly much quieter. Lots of the nuances of the tape is lost in a big room, I feel, unless your PA and sound man are meticulious. What is your comfort zone.

Sorry, about that I meant EH RI MM. BB no offense meant, just a useless opinion.

What's the TB mod, Dan?Billy Batz wrote:No offense was percieved by me...Mine is a RI EH MM. Maybe you read my post a bit too fast. I love it but its noisey as hell just like your old one so thats to nix the idea that the new ones are quiet. Decent sounding if you like analog delays but not quiet. The TB mod is a definite must.

OK I got it. Saw Eric Johnson in a small room and he was supposedly using a memory man through a small pa on his amp. He seemed to have none of the problems both you and I encountered. Moral of the story use the TTE and keep spare tape on hand.

Ive been lusting for the TTE since it was just a small blurp on the fulltone site in its 'in development' days. Just too much mula for delay. But I really think no delay sounds better before an overdriven amps input. In fact to me no other type of delay even sounds good that way. In a loop or on the board, sure.
