Richter Attenuator
I just finished my JTM45 kit. I got my weber speakers today, one is a 1230-55 and the other is a silver bell. I realized I cannot turn the volume up much at all, less than 1/3 volume. I would like to keep the sound inside the walls of my home. I am not looking for a bedroom level. I hear aslong as you drive the speakers beyond 1w they sound good. How well with a Richter Control work for me. I am looking for some good balance. I dont want to lose much tone and I want it to sound good. Wishful thinking?
How well does the Richter work with a 100w superlead. I realize some are well over 150w. I hear stock it cuts -3db. I dont know if I am right but thats about 75w, -8db = 37w? How well will it sound at them volumes. Can you get the volume down with a Richter and have it still sound D.*N good? Will it sound still good at say 20w? I just dont want the neighbors coming over bothing me or having police knock on my door.

I like the tone of my Richter. I find it starts to sound better as you near the 11:00 position. It really shines after that. It's also plenty loud to use on stage. I've used it with my JTM 45 and was told I was too loud. I was told the Richter cut the volume in half. I also heard it was set at -6db which would be more than half since 50 watts is -3db less than the 100 watter, correct?

I wouldn't use my Richter on a cranked 100 watter. It is a simple matter of running a second silent load on the other speaker out to knock the power to the Richter in half. Safer for the amp and safer for the Richter.
The Richter has the most natural sound of all the major players and I have tried 6 of them.

Hey bros
I own 2 amps. A Marshall 50 W Plexi and a Marshall 100 W plexi. What can I say, I love Marshall's. The Richter works great with both of them. I have never had any problems or issues with the Richter and my amps. In fact, a vintage Marshall 100w plexi was the test amp used when both the Richter Control and the Mload were designed in England.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you,

Does the Richter work strictly as a dummy load, as well as an attenuator?Cheech wrote:Hey bros

If there's no quiet, there can be no loud.
