I just realized from this photo. I thought it was piece of tape but that little square on the back is actually a battery door for the sustainiac PU. Thats also around where the input jack is located. Not on the standard model.

Looking at that neckplate, contour & skunk stripe, a late 80's Fujigen.
Not in Joe's model, but Sustainiac IIRC, was around several years before that guitar was made,
but easily could of went through a Hoshino Rep, or factory direct, to do the stock mod later down the road. Or not.
Could of been done anywhere at any time.

Satchmo's G3 brainchild has morphed several times through some great musicians & performances
spawning B3. It was kool seeing Jeff, Billy & Stu's Bass version of G3.

That is is the original prototype above. The other one he has in this color had a huge wide skunk stripe that went all the way up through the headstock. Had the Sustaniac PU as well added. Made in Japan.

The little horn is totally new design I guess. Major cut away as he went to 24 frets. The whammy bar is graphite.

So from a JS1200 or JS100 to a JS24... Awesome they (Ibanez) were able to accommodate Joe...

ahh heck I give up. I've been trying to get a Stratocaster body to fit a 24 fret neck, aware that the horn will be cut deeper for access & slightly shorter body, but still unable to find a company short of going through Fender's CS.

The single coil on this one can be split as well as the bridge humbucker. He put in the smaller humbucker because a regular sat too far down the body because of the extra frets.The second knob is a hi/lo frequency cut when pulled out.
