What a treat it was to have Dana show up at my usual Thursday night gig with this:
The Pabst Blue Ribbon fuzz. A one-of-a-kind pedal that he put together and gave to me! It replaced my time machine boost. But I have a feeling they will be living side by side very soon. I might even remove the Klon Centaur.
Did I mention he gave it to me?
Dana sat in on some tunes as well. I even played bass and slaughtered some classics. Way too much fun for a thursday. Dana, I hope Michelle feels OK for work in the morning. That Quervo can really do a number on ya.
I'm off to bed, but I wanted to share what a blast we had tonight.

I forgot to mention that as a tribute to the pedal I drank a bottle of Pabst Blue Ribbon. The best beer you could get your hands on in 1873.

Speaking of getting wasted and of course... Pabst, my rhythm guitarist from my former band just got his first DUI. Way to go Tom! Hopefully he has gotten some sense knocked in his head.

The PBR Fuzz is a one off pedal that I built for George. It is basically a Fuzz Face type pedal with some mods to it. A lot more versatile than a Fuzz Face and not as boomy.

cool, what is a good fuzz pedal like zz top type sound? my bro has a twin and a tele with all sorts of block logo MXR pedals including a distortion plus. he wants a old school fuzz type sound and dont know what to get. I no nothing about fuzz so I couldn't help. maybe someone here can? Thanks

When I think of an old school fuzz I think of a Fuzz Face. There are a ton of builders making clones of vintage style fuzzes.
Basically a fuzz is a ratty rough type of distortion that works very closely with the volume knob on your guitar. IMO fuzzes generally work best into an already distorting amp. Hendrix used a Fuzz Face into his Marshalls.

Good topic ... and NICE looking pedal!
I have a question ... what is the difference between different fuzz pedals like the Fulltone 69, Fulltone 70, and the Fulltone Brit Bender?
I'm only using the Fulltone brand name because I know they're going for three distinct types of fuzz. I'm just not sure what they are.

Fulltone 69 is a Germanium Fuzz Face Clone with a couple extra controls. The 70 is a Silicone Fuzz. Not sure on the Brit Bender.

I have only built a couple of Fuzzes ,but to sell one I would probably charge around $125-$150. The parts don't cost a lot but a one off pedal is pretty time consuming.
