Best Pickup for Judas Priest

I am going to be getting a new guitar and I want to know whats the best pickup for judas priest.

The tone I am after is

Sad wings of destiny
Defenders of the faith
Painkiller

Seymour duncan or Dimarzio

any suggestions thanks

Yeah the treble boost was the key. I think that Glenn definatly had Dimarzio super distortion humbucker's in that black three bolt strat with the metallic pick-guard. That guitar sounded real good. Listen to the "Unleashed in the East" album. On the track's that Glenn used the bar (Obviously the strat) his tone was better. KK used single coil's in his strat's at the time, along with the stock Gibson H.B'ers in his red V. That was the old day's , now they use active EMG humbucker's I believe.

Tone Slinger, you are correct about their current choice of pickups. I believe I read somewhere that they chose EMG's more for consistency when using them through their rack systems to achieve their tone.

Glenn is using that same guitar on the insert sleeve of the Defenders album. I would tend to agree with you on the Dimarzio angle on that guitar as well. I am not sitting near my lp collection so I can't see what was in KK's V in the same photo, but I do remember that he had open faced pickups in it. Might be stock Gibson's or Dimarzios as well.
