If that wasn't bad enough, plug your Strat into one and hit the switch. It can claim to be "flat EQ'd boost" 'til the cows come home, but if that's what my Strat sounds like EQ'd flat, I'll hang myself. Should just pump up what I already hear through my amp right?? NOPE. Honking nasal mids that you can't tame with a whip, and those resonance peak switch settings make it sound like your wah broke somewhere in the middle of its range and you can't shut it off, certainly not like a "vintage humbucker" like their BS ad hype wants you to believe.Country Boy Shane wrote:Whatever you do, don't buy a Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster. Yes, they do bring you clean boost, but when you hit the footswitch, you can hear it pop! Bad switch quality.
Fine, it sounded good with a humbucker. So I'm not TOTALLY down on the thing.
Sent it back within a day. Yuucckkkk.

Buy the FatBoost, or the Time Machine Boost if you're really feeling flush at the moment.

Damn, a friend of mine is having this same problem with his Duncan Pickup Booster. It's otherwise a grand pedal (he's playing a Gibson Lucille with a pair of humbuckers) - it gives a nice boost without adding too much low end, which suits his AC30 down to the ground. But it clicks when he hits the switch, and sometimes it crackles and the level drops back to normal. The LED doesn't flicker or anything, and he's run it off battery as well as a 9v AC/DC adaptor with equally annoying results. I'm thinking it's a dodgy switch. Is it worth trying to change it (I'm on quite the DIY high at the moment), or should I recommend that he try returning it? It's probably still under warranty.
Hmm... Maybe I should keep my soldering iron to myself on this one. It'll be a bugger going without it for a while though.

It most likely it isn't a bad switch. There is some other cause as well. Check out this article for more info.Bad switch quality

The Keeley stuff is all good. He builds the Time Machine Boost for Legendary Tones. The Katana Boost is his clean boost pedal. I recently got a Time Machine Boost, and I'm using the clean boost and the mid boost ('73 mode) equally. I also have an RGW Bad Bob Boost that is a really nice clean boost. Tone Factor and Analogman sell them.
Yes, there are a lot of clean boost pedals out there...
I swear by the TMB and Bad Bob.
