I haven't had any issues with either the JJ EL34 or the E34L. Currently have a set of E34L's in my Metro clone, and love them. WIll be putting a set in my Matchless Clubman in the near future.
I repair amps for a living as well, and in my experience, of the tubes I carry, I see no more failures with the JJ line, than any other tube.
Crap happens sometimes. It is the luck of the draw with tubes.
JJ E34L Tubes... Bad batch?... Anyone have issues recently?

Since you are buying JJ's why not try a reputable "other than" ? Perfect opportunity if you are working on other peoples amps to try out a pair/quad to see if the JJ's have any competition for the price range.
Am I assuming you've done something like this and this is the reason for a repeat performance on the JJ's?
Aren't =C= just a tad more? Have you tried the Shug's?

Re: JJ E34L Tubes... Bad batch?... Anyone have issues recent
this thread is old but i think ill put an input here.
i also had problems with JJ el34 e34L tubes.
the el34 was used like 5 hours total cranked and failed at very low voulme in my jubilee.
the e34l just quit just now at low volume too for more than 3 years without using it stored in its box. when it was working i had it app. 10 hours cranked and not a single problem. now i took it out of the box it had problems on one tube. switch it to the other socket and it followed and also the good tube followed to be good on the other socket.
so the conclusion is, its not my amp.s both failed in totally differnt amps. OT and fuses were fine also. it just quit giving signal but had intermittent noise.

Re: JJ E34L Tubes... Bad batch?... Anyone have issues recent
All the JJel34 I have had in the last 2 yrs were not good for one,the base on 4 of them where loose,Brand new,The last quad only lasted about 10 hrs,and I didnt play that loud,I let them warm upburn in and still failed,So I started useing Shuguang Tubes,If you get them from the company they will return any dead ones for a YEAR,They sound great in my 100wSLP after 4-5 hr burn in,I get mine from YenAudio They are a good tube, and you can play on 10 all week and send them back,No questions I do not really take advantage, but If you do blow a tube They replace them. I am sold on EL34's from China. I will never use JJ again Same with all the $100. a pop RFT that blow after a hour..Thats why Marshall used 6605 in the 1970's in USA amps

Shuggys for me as well. I reckon they sound fine and you can really stock up coz of the price. I have too many amps and never play one for long but I haven't had a failure yet n I've got Shugs in all but my JTM45 clone which has some old GECs but the shugs that used to be in that amp sounded real close to the grail GECs IMO and I play that amp the most and had the shug KT66s in that amp for over two years and they were still going strong when I put the GECs in there, actually I've still got shug KT66s in my 45/100 clone n that amps a goodun as well. Had them in there for over 3 years but don't play the amp much but the shugs are certainly impervious to dust
