I heard (read) many stories about how good their power tubes, especially 6550's, but there are not so many info about preamp tubes. So I tried one and I just love it! It sounds way better than EHX (not gold pin version), better than a JJ ecc83s, some GT's that actually Sovteks and JJ... And as I checked on ePay and they aren't expensive.
12ax7 =C= sounds louder than all the tubes that I mentioned, and the gain was much more pleasant.
Why they are not so popular? Grate tube for the grate price. Tried it only in v1 though...

They had noise issues with some of them, hum etc on AC filaments. They seem to work ok on dc powered filaments though.
