Well I have to say, and may have said already, the JJ 6CA7's were not THAT impressive when I first put them in. And I have heard this from some other guys too. After they've been run a while they seem to wake up. Oddly enough, I have the same problem at my age

Has anyone compared the EH 6CA7s and/or the JJ 6CA7s to the Sylvania's or RCA's?

I understand the EH are build more like them but in terms of tone.

I have not compared the JJ's to the others but I just puta quad in my Marshall superlead and my first impressions were not very positive! I actually like the jje34l and these JJ6ca7 do not have anything I like. I have only listened to them for 20 minutes but they were very scooped to me and not very pleasant sounding! I also got mine from the tube depot. Maybe they need some break in but I was not very impressed and kind of disappointed I spent the cash on them.

Like I said, I wasn't that impressed with the JJ 6CA7's at first until they had some time to break in. Give them some time and play the devil out of them. Of course you still may not like them. Everyone's different. Or maybe it's the difference in your Super Lead versus my 50 that I'm able to push a little harder.

I like the warmth , body and bass of the EL34's and the top end , detail and air of the 6L6's . Is there something that would have all of these characteristics in one tube ?
Yes , I want it all !
