Looking for Sylvania 6CA7's

Post by Rickfox » Thu May 12, 2005 12:44 pm

Hey Guys! I'm looking for a duet of these tubes. I'm pretty frustrated. Yesterday, I tried all of my NOS duets in my Metro 50, and none would bias anywhere near each other. So, I have single 6CA7's and even Mullard EL-34's (nf2's). The best output tube I have ever used are these 6CA7's. So, what are the chances of finding these, or should I say anybody willing to part with them? Thanks.
Rick

Have you checked out http://www.coldspringselectricalworks.com or Hi Test Guitars in NJ (201)750-2445? I haven't delved into the NOS tube realm yet and these were two companies I just saw while reading Vintage Guitar zine today.

Rick,
Mike Braithwaite: www.Cathedralstone.net. He goes by TubeGetter on the Plexi Palace Forums. Mike has beautiful NOS Sylvania 6CA7s. I've had a duet from him for a while. I used them in my '69 and '67 Plexi 50watters and the net affect is more creamy headroom before breakup, sweet rounded, glassy top end, and terrific even distortion past 12 o'clock.

Mike's email is mikebhsd1@earthlink.net

Rick,

This is my post - don't know why it posted as "Guest". Anyway, do touch base with Mike Braithwaite. He's the one Terry Kilgore ("Tube Tramp") will get his Syl 6CA7s from. BTW, Terry's a great guy to deal with. I've bought many tubes from him.
