DIG IN AND hOLD ON IN ONE REGARD. lAY BACK AND lET GO IN ANOTHER.

In My exp. The Better the guitarist= the LESS need/demand for so called BETTER VINTAGE tubes.

Not implying that new tubes are better (they certainly are not....... in some/more than some examples) BUT, the TONAL SHADE of new tubes are MUCH more predictable as well as being expendable (hell even if you have a sucky old tube, it is valued, as compared to a BETTER sounding new tube :) ).

There is a market for 1 % better, whether it is transformers, speakers, or tubes. Lets all be happy for those making 1 % profit, as opposed to those making 70 % profit.

Sorry but i disagree with all the nhey-sayers

First off, yes it is cost prohibitive.

That said, with gas spectrometers, etc., i'm confident they can find what metals and coatings were used. So, if you were throwing money around no object, you could have everything defined, down to the sub-atomic particle. Hell, the just found NEW element that was previously unknown to exist EVER in a meteor they just found in japan.

Next, money no object, you could build a environmentally safe plant.

The tooling still exists, i forgot who bought it, but someone in russia or japan has it.

Now here's the kick in the pants.....

Kenny Fisher of Trainwreck amp fame was setting wheels in motion to manufacture tubes that he believed would have had every bit the same tone as mullies -

I know one of his best friends, who was going into the rube business with him, and the money man behind it.

Kenny certainly knew all things of tone goodness. No reason to believe he wasn't on about tubes.

BTW Jim@Scumback....

Even though you dont have the correct mash for your speaker paper, nor the correct dope (glue), nor the metallurgic exact equal of the magnets, look how great your speakers came out.

You really think it can't be done with tubes (assuming you millions to waste)

But money IS a very important object. That's the main thing standing in the way, and certainly the point I was trying to make was that it could NEVER be profitable. The tooling isn't really the great issue either.
The tooling itself isn't going to be that special compared to others (although I'm sure there were perhaps better and more specialist machines, but it's not the missing part of the puzzle), and I seriously doubt that all that useful scrap metal has been sat lying around untouched for over 20 years. I know for certain that if I had a big warehouse full of obsolete heavy metal machinery I'd have it weighed in and take the cash anyday. You can't expect business owners to know, or care any different.

At the end of the day though, regardless of pipe dreams, it all comes down to money. And it really doesn't present itself as a very good business opportunity.
So I like purple, okay!!!!!!
