Tube Replacement

Post by RocknRoll5 » Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:03 pm

Just blew one of my KT66's in my Metroamp JTM45. The tubes are at least a year old. Should I replace both of them or just the one that blew?

Was thinking of switching from JJ's to GL's as well...guessing that if this is the case I should replace both?

Thanks for you help :)

I'd recommend both....they'll wear at the same rate and odds are you won't have one die before the other again...

:? You will pretty much ALWAYS have one tube die before the other. I don't think I've ever known a situation where two tubes have died at the same time.
That said, the tube that survived is going to be pretty well spent by now. It's not very likely the tube that died was down to a fault in the tube. After a good year of use in a JTM45, most modern KT66's are pretty well used. Not at all like the KT66's of yesteryear.
So I like purple, okay!!!!!!
