Hey, can anyone help out with the question of whether a 5u4g rectifier can be used in the jtm-45?
Would this require some modification, would it be bad for the PT?
I am curious, as I like the sound of the 5u4g in other amps and I wouldn't mind more sag. We're friends. Sag and I.

Most standard jtm45 power transformers have a 3A 5V winding so unless you have an oddball PT that is only wound for 2A, you'll be fine. FWIW, most Supro 6L6 amps transitioned from a 5V4 rectifier to a 5U4 rectifier about 1960, yet the PT specs did not change - 2A 5V winding. And most of those PT are still going strong - at least all of mine are - , so even with a 2A rated PT you might still get away with it if it was well-built. The key here is to know thy power transformer.
