For instance...

The more astute of you may notice that the Mazda's that are being sold for $105 dollars are in fact RFT's, which usually command around $30 each.

You may also notice that further down the Mazda's that are being sold for $149 are also RFT's.

You may then pay attention to the Edicrons being sold for $149, that are in fact Yugoslavian EI tubes, and usually go between $20 and $30 for a good one. (Many of these have been known to go microphonic quite early in their lifetime)

Unfortunately, pointing this out at home on the Plexi Palace Bulletin just earned me a lifetime ban. Apparently it is not okay for me to warn fellow members there of what they may unwittingly be purchasing, but it is okay for the site owner to dupe people with dishonestly described tubes (I say dishonestly, since I had pointed out what they were)

Just want to warn you all, that is all. Not just of this particular link, but of many, MANY sellers.

I'd just like to add that Tubetramp always comes up trumps with good stuff, at a good price, and packs stuff to withstand a nuclear explosion.

Those prices are all pretty ridonkulous anyway, even without the dishonesty.

Even I missed the Edicron labelled EI's at first, till I got wound up and started scrutinising everything on there.

I must admit, I'm very suspicious of what those Pinnacle tubes are... I have no idea. Strange looking plates, pretty distinctive, but not one I have in my arsenal.

I gave up on that board years ago, not just because of the favoritism, but also due to the overwhelming laze fair attitude of the board admin...even when I was an advertiser there. Tube Tramp warned me about it years ago, and he was right.

I haven't been back there in...jeez...three years? No big loss...especially when you read about stuff like this.

It's far from being the first time I've seen deception from the owner... and not the first time I've been silenced about it... but an instant permaban was a bit of a shock! Still, that's fine. I've issued this everywhere I'm registered. People ought to be warned. There was another big-seller over there with a pretty good rep that also had a habit of doing the same thing. Got boxes and boxes of crappy late Tesla's that he's selling as E83CC frame grid Tesla's (they're marked E83CC, but actually they're just crappy 12ax7's). He's a big mate of Tubetramp :hide: (not)
You ask Terry about his best buddy over there...

No need to ask, I know who you're talking about. Another "one of those" guys.

That's why perspective tube buyers should know what the plate structures look like before buying tubes. Can work out to their advantage sometimes also especially on ebay. But if you don't know what certain brand tubes look like by plate or date code or specific etching like the telefunken diamond etc.. and/or don't know what the flashing, haloing, dark bases etc.. look like on a high mileage tube, you should go through guys like Terry you can trust will steer you right.

Glad to see you pop in Trampy!

You told things were drying up a couple years ago, and weren't it the truth. I still look for a KT66 or Mullard here or there, usually at a customer's request. but I'm not hunting like I used to. It really seems like only garbage left out there, or they want a ransom for the stuff.

I do have to insist though that you are the leader and I'm the side-kick. Despite the disparity in nicknames. LOL
You should meet my old friend some day. A veteran sound company guy, after hearing Velvet George he named himself corduroy Bob. We'd be a hell of a trio.

Could always re-name Trampy as Hessian Terry. I think it suits him quite well.
