tube rectifiers

Got a question for all you fine amp builders and guitarists. In your opinion, which type of rectifier works or sounds "better" to you or for your style of playing? I have heard that amps with tube rectifiers have more "sag but I'm not sure what that sounds like. Is that a good thing? I've played for a lot of years and probably played amps with lots of sag but didn't realize it was due to a tube instead of a solid state rectifier. Please educate me on rectifiers and sag. Thanks.
