EH6CA7 Qustion ?

Post by JB007 » Sat Jan 28, 2006 4:45 pm

I've been running EH6CA7 "Fat Bottles" with proper bias and notice they dont react like a GT6CA7GE. The GT's claim the original tubes were pentode design and the EH tubes claim the original's were tetrode tubes. Does anyone know which is true,Pentode or Tetrode? If i remember right, the original GE,Sylvania had an active forming beam in them and would glow blue when using them. The EH tubes i'm using now dont glow blue and sound like a tight EL34. Also the reliability sucks, got one taking off on me again. I'm just trying to get that old Fat Bottle sound again without a house mortgage to buy the NOS tubes.
