I am wanting to run these in one of my amps. Anyone have any real world results they can share? GT? EH? Crap? Good? Great?

I have had bad results with the EH 6CA7 tubes. Always have one out of the Quad run off in ma readings after about 2 days of playing. They sound good but reliability is another issue. My 2 cents worth.

I've bought two quads of EH's and both quads had a tube develop a short that caused the tube to run away. I'll never purchase them again. Maybe they wouldn't be so bad in an amp with lower volts on the plates. Ask George if he offers a warranty?

Good to know about the EH's, fellas. How about the GT6CA7GE? It says on the GT page that they are not making them anymore. Anyone know if some are available anywhere?

I bought a set two months ago and they sound fantastic. Love them to death, but one went bad and sent them back to groove tubes. They are going to replace them with no hassles when they go back into production in the beginning of march after they finish the EL-34M their working on. Can't wait to get mine back. But they sound 3 times better than EH 6CA7 tubes. I'll post my reviews when they come in.

Yeah, I've some GT's too and they sound good. Then again you could buy a quad of original Sylavanias or four quads of EH's for the price of a GT quad.

I'd like to hear your evaluation of an EL-34 vs. the true 6CA7. I'd also like to hear it compared to the new JJ KT-77. I'll go broke buying all of them myself to try.

Anybody know anything about these 6CA7's?

A "big" and warm sounding EL34 with much headroom and a late breakup, but with a lack in midrange complexity. In the 90's they've labelled that tube KT90

Interesting.... 8)

So, if you go with these over Electro-Harmonix 6ca7's, how would they compare? Also, does buying tubes from "the tube store" make any difference in quality. Do they weed out the bad ones, or is it still a risk?

As far as I know, The Tube Store has a good reputation for its tube testing.

Tube-Store is located in Canada too so shipping would be less. I have ordered several items from them in the past, no problems all the tubes were good. His shipping to the US has gone up so I switched to US based tube dealers.
