"new" EH el34's kick ass?

Anyone try the "new" EH el34's? What sets them apart from the "old" EH's? How can one tell the difference?
Are there new EH EL34's? I didn't think they've changed in a bunch of years, unless you mean Sovtek - EH ?
The EH EL34's sound good, but I find are terribly unreliable. Bias drifts like crazy, hard to get a nicely matched quad.
