Retolexing a head to plexi style?
Is there any good tutorials on how to retolex a head or cabinet to plexi style? It's a mystery to me how they do the gold piping. ![Confusion :what:](./images/smilies/confused.gif)

On page three of this section there is a thread about installing gold "string" where Jim from Scumback explains how to do it. See if that helps. Also farther back, I don't know how many pages back, there is a link to Jim "Scumback" Seavall's excellent tutorials on recovering cabinets and replacing grill cloths.

Here's how it looks when done in red.

Yeh, I saw the gear page tutorial, I was really bummed about the missing pics. I asked Jim if he could repost them, but the poor guy is really busy getting ready for NAMM right now. I was just hoping if someone else had done a similar tutorial.
BTW, that red piping looks crazy evil awesome.![Rock ](./images/smilies/devilshorns.gif)

Re: Retolexing a head to plexi style?
Thanks man. One tip I can give is to thin the contact adhesive 50/50 with thinners, all purpose from the h/ware store will do the job, this will allow you to brush it on easy, do the tolex first then the wood and WAIT a good 10 minutes and then just apply the tolex, make the top and bottom bits longer than the piping channels and then using a new blade, cut the tolex off in the channel ( furthest away side ) and then jam in some insulated wire to hold it til you get the other side of the channel tolexed. HTH. You'll figure it out once you're doing it, you just have to do it.alvagoldbook wrote: that red piping looks crazy evil awesome.
