High and Low
When "they" say you need to run your amp's selector to speakers at a higher Impedence, does that mean if it was 8 ohms you would run to 16 ohms ,or does it mean run at 4 ohm, I hope this isn't a dumb ?

With regards to what, exactly?
Fill us in on the what's and why's...
Mismatching isn't the best of ideas, but then I'm not sure whether you're talking about mismatching, or something else entirely.

If your amp was set to 8 ohms, then 16 ohms would be "higher".bobtec wrote:When "they" say you need to run your amp's selector to speakers at a higher Impedence, does that mean if it was 8 ohms you would run to 16 ohms ,or does it mean run at 4 ohm, I hope this isn't a dumb ?
And no, it's not a dumb question - engineers tend to refer to the affects rather than the numbers. For instance, a 10K resistor to ground provides "higher damping" than a 100K resistor to ground.
