For as many great amps that have been built on this site, attenuation is the least explored realm of the 100 watt plexi chain. We all love the sound but gigging with them is difficult at volume to say the least. I believe that attenuators are the next big thing in tone exploration, and Shannon, it's cool you are heading it up!jape88 wrote:For me attenuators play a massive part in my chain, I wish attenuation/load could be discussed much more
Also glad you plan on some comparison clips because this is the next major purchase I will make.
Or build DIY. Hmmmmmm...

Re: Marshall "Fawn" Cab.
I may be a few weeks getting the parts for the DIY version. Its pretty simple. Hope its effective. I'm going to test the Hotplate, Aracom, Faustine, Alex, Rock Crusher and the DIY. They idea is to see which one performs well at small room volumes. Personally I see little difference with all of them at low attenuation levels. Its the high attenuated levels most guys are looking for so they can play without the neighbors calling 5-0.emmjaydubya wrote:For as many great amps that have been built on this site, attenuation is the least explored realm of the 100 watt plexi chain. He may, Ill give him a shout. If not I have a Radial X-amp reamp box. I could reamp some of the iso Eddie tracts pretty easily I think. I know the Radial was what George was using to test his amps. Playing though each one is good but being able to put the exact same thing through each time is more ideal. Just switch out each unit and leave everything the same with a decimeter dialed for exact volume. And again its just a objective comparison with all things equal but opinions will be subjective to no end. I want to make sure I do it right because usually when someone does this a few feathers get ruffled in the discussion. Hopefully it doesnt turn into a TGP type thread. But then again, who cares, as that's rather fun sometimes.
Or maybe I'll reamp just the David Lee Roth iso vocals.....
Anyways, we are in the wrong thread for this so I'll start new one as soon as I get things together.
