JCM800 speaker screws?

Post by VelvetGeorge » Fri Jan 25, 2008 4:09 pm

Just had someone who needs speakers screws for 3 JCM800 1960 cabs. I can't recall what size they are. Can anyone refresh my memory?

I didn't realize I haven't owned any cabs newer than '75 in almost 15 years.

George...
This is what Jim at Southbay told me.....

If you have an old cab, pre 1980, they're one screw size (Whitworth thread, straight tip on a square shoulder "Cheeshead" style screw). If they're post 1980 they should be 10/32 machine screws with a philips head screw.

Hope this is what your after...

I believe they are 2BA size on all of that era and earlier Marshalls.

The captive nuts are that size (and on the head cab handle).

How many do you want and how soon?

I know this is an old thread, but a search didn't turn up an definitive answer, so I had to figure it out myself. :bang:

While both 10-32 and 2BA will fit into the T nuts, they are both a bit too sloppy. For some reason, I have a 5mm by .80 die here, and it fits the factory speaker screws perfectly, so with 99.999% certainty, I can say that on the 800 and similar cabinets with the Pozidriv (looks like Philips but it's NOT!!!!) head screws, they are M5 X .80 (25mm or 1"long for most).

Hope that helps

to add to what Wattever said my 900 cab used the metric size too and Ace Hardware had the screws and the t-nuts in that size! That ACE is the place!
