I am most likely gonna get a 100 watt Metro kit in August. Right now I have an Avatar 2x12 cab with V30's. Thats 120 watts at 8 ohms. I will be using an attenuator. Am I safe putting the Super Lead through it dimed? I have heard countless times that:
1. Marshalls go way over 100 watts when cranked.
2. Many Marshalls have been cranked through a 4x12 of Greenbacks (total of 100 watts).
3. Overloading speakers=dead speakers.
Help.
Wattage Confusion

Its true. 100W Marshalls are more then 100W. Ill bet all my amps are closer to 150W. When the amp came out it was custom to set the wattage in the name measured for clean wattage. Thats the wattage thats recorded at full clean headroom NOT full volume. Guitarists have always put their 100 watters into 4x12s wuth greenbacks but they have also always blown speakers as well. Especially those speakers. It seems like not many have survived You should be fine with a V30 2x12 especially with attenuation.
