My new Scumback Blackback M75's arrived today!

Post by the boogie man » Fri Dec 23, 2011 7:50 pm

Let me start off by saying that Jim Seavall is a really nice guy. He steered me to the Blackbacks after I thought I needed Scumback M75's, and, he was right, the Scumback Blackback M75's are EXACTLY what I was wanting. I like to have a JMP "type" sound with a treble booster(think early Dokken). I want my speakers to be percussive and warm. The Blackbacks are so good that I can't imagine paying for another vintage greenback again. Seriously.

The speakers were packaged really well and Mr. Seavall got them to me really fast(a few days). It is a great feeling to not have to worry about killing my vintage speakers and also having a warranty; while still having that G12M tone.

Mister Seavall? :palm: Jeez...I am old. F**k me!

Hey, glad to hear that worked out so well for you. I didn't realize you put the speakers into a real metal handled Marshall cab...that certainly helped some.

Enjoy!

Looks great, especially in the vintage cab. Jim, 30w is as low as you're going with these?

I was just at Jim's place a little bit ago. Even with him having food poisoning, he still indulged me to try several cabinets to determine what I wanted. Even with my gyUitar squealing like a stuck pig.

He is reconing the greenback I sent him to a Blackback. Bottom line is that it was a pleasure doing business with him . He gives the same level of professionalism to hacks as he does pros.

Who orders lobster in LA. :palm: Once you've tried lobster in Maine, you'll never order it anywhere ells. Hope your feeling better Mr. Seavall! :D So, I've got four old G12m's on the way to Jim's shop for the BM75 cone job. My other g12m/m75 recones from Jim sound beautiful. Gathering funds for a quad of PVC's, almost there.

My first time on the computer in three days. Gents, it was Brazilian lobster tails from Costco. My wife fees terrible about buying them. I haven't left the bedroom or bathroom since Monday night at 11pm. Long story short, I'm hoping it passes soon (literally), and can get back to work.

Looks like I'll be staying home for New Years since I haven't eaten anything but a 1/2 bowl of chicken soup and some toast since Monday night.

Happy New Year to all of you in Metro forum land.

You should have yourself checked for seafood allergy. It can be very serious if that was what it was and not run of the mill food poisoning but I am sure that felt serious enough.

I have a shellfish allergy although I didn't have the reaction Jim did. It's supposed to get worse each time so as bad as Jim's was , I'd consider staying away from it from here on out. I can stil eat fish without any problems.

Actually it turned out to be something airborne. While I thought it was the lobster since it happened two hours after I ate it, my wife didn't get it...until three days later at work. Then she got it through this weekend.

I never had a shellfish allergy before, so I doubt that's it.

In any case, back to normal, 9 pounds lighter. Lots of speaker orders to fill, gotta go!

Very cool to hear that you like the Blackbacks. For me, thats the tone! I can't wait to hear Jims work with the 25watters and 65watters. I have 4 original mint condition Celestion Blackbacks from 1978 and believe it or not I am still breaking them in! LOL VERY rare find. So it would be totally cool to have the 65watt versions!

I'm using M75's and M75 PVC's in the X-pattern. Cab full of magic.
Cheers to the ears.
