Hello,
I have put my Metro JTM-45 into a 1x12 combo cabinet, because I have to carry it around alot, and use a G12H30 speaker. The volume knob is usually below 7 and I love the way the combo sounds, but I fear to blow the 30w speaker.
I don´t use my hotplate with this amp and didn´t like the sound of the PPIMV either.

Do you think the speaker will last at this volume? (It does for a week now
Or do you have an other suggestion for a single speaker for this amp?

The Emi Wizard sounds IMHO more fat and less open, what I don´t like.
Has someone tried a neodym magnet speaker and can compare it to the G12H30?

It won't last at that volume. Get a Scumback H75 100w and be happy.

I'd go for a 65W Scummie. No need for a 100W speaker for a JTM-45. That'll never get worked properly.

Or an Alnico Gold, might be a reasonable choice... but pricey.

the Scumbacks are hard to get here overseas and the H75 seems to be closer to the Wizard. The G12H30 is IMHO more Hendrix, more Chili Peppers and more ACDC.
I had a look at the Gold´s price tag. Gulp.
The old G12H65 from my other combo is not bright enough too.
Difficult.

Perhaps you ought to look more towards the H55 65W Scummies then.

FWIW, my 65W BM75's absolutely rip. Nice forward mids, more AC/DC than just about anything I've tried, in fact MY G12H30 55Hz Heritage's have now been shelved. And my alnico blue. I can't recommend these enough. Since there is a distributor in Germany, perhaps you ought to take a look at Pete Thorns clips on the Scumback site.

They don't seem stiff at all for a 65W speaker either. Especially when compared to my Heritage's which were well broken in.

I doubt that the Gold would suit as they are like the blues - quite middy, so the suggestion of 65w M75 sounds quite a good one if you like the G12H. Cheaper option would be a V30 but they can be harsh and scooped to some ears (ie mine!)

Or maybe even a new Creamback... though I haven't heard one as yet...

I will give the G12M65 Creamback a try. It is not too expensive (95€) and it is a british built speaker, so demonufo and Neil can profit from my taxes

someone told me that creamback sounds warmer than a 25w m. imo h 30 is brighter and louder and punchier than m, so i'd go for a scumback h speaker 65w if it's in the h30 celestion ballpark sound wise

While I've had some players tell me that M75's are the bomb for JTM 45's, I've never thought so. I always preferred the H75. But if you want more low end than an M75 or G12M type speaker with a little crisper treble response, the J75 is the one I'd recommend.

I think the JTM 45's have too much bass as it is, so a brighter speaker brings them alive, IMO. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with.

When I was running stock JTM45 circuit with 1x12, the H75-HP was the best sounding 1x12.
It tightens up the low end nicely. M's with a JTM45..meh.

You could also just plug a big ole load resistor into the other speaker jack and keep the 30W speaker. Match the resistor value to the speaker and adjust the impedance selector accordingly.

I had a hotplate switched on "Load" on the other speaker jack. This was good enough to loose some volume, but I lost treble and life in the sound too.
The Creamback arrived and it sounds fine. I cannot give a fair comparison to the G12H30, because I did mod the amp too. The Creamback seems to be less rough and better balanced in the mids. I like it.
