Never having owned any Weber speaker(s), I can't attest one way or the other however it sounds as though there may be something more to it than meets the eye

I'm very sorry to hear this NY Chief. You'll just have to go dig a shallow grave in the Pine Barrens for the culprit when you catch him. Just kidding. My close friend had a Fender SFVR 2x10 amp stolen by somebody that he trusted, but it was recovered by the OKC police department from a pawnbroker who had wrongfully taken it in w/o checking the true ownership of said amp.
FWIW, there is still hope that you will get your amplifier back.
