Bogner 2x12 for Marshall 1987x?
I picked up a Marshall 1987x 50 watt head on Reverb this morning. I am now in search of a proper speaker cabinet to run it through. There is a guy in my area selling a Bogner 212. Would this be a suitable cabinet for the 1987x? I know that a 412 may be better, but I am leaning towards a 212 for reasons of cost and ease of transportation. Would there be any drawback or potential danger of running the 50 watt through the 212? I am not very well educated on matters related to wattage and ohms. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

AFAIK they are loaded with celection v30s. Not bad speakers to rock out with, can be a bit spiky if you are old school plexi user. Cabs are good quality too.
If you can get it for a good price I would say yes!
Edit some of the 4x10 sized 2x12s have a G12H and a G12M which is said to work very well too.

Your new 1987x should have an adjustable impedance selector on the back. Always be sure to match your amps impedance to the cabinet's impedance. Most 2x12 or 4x12's that you will run across will be wired for either 8ohm or 16ohm but you may run across an occasional cab (Fender) that will be wired for 4ohm. Just be sure to set your amp accordingly and you are safe to use either. As far as wattage goes, when using my 1987 I like to have at least a 65watt speaker when playing with my 1x12 cab, and going a bit higher on wattage would be even safer. Your 50 watt amp can put out more than 50 watts when pushed into distortion so it is always a good idea to have a margin of safety with your speakers.

Forgot to mention that if the Bogner is loaded with two V30's, the cabinet will be rated for 120 watts so you will be perfectly fine using it with your new amp.
