Hi all,

I have recently acquired one of these speakers, 15 Ohm 50W 40Hz with the double cone, Rola 1975 with the yellow chasis. I was intending it for a 2x12 cab together with a Mesa V30 8Ohm... Therein lies my problem now, because I was under the impression that this G12-50 were to be a 8 Ohm speaker. I've got it from a friend of mine, so am not worrying about this part.

Now I intend to use it together with a Made in China G12H30 - 75Hz.

Would that combination work? I have never tried one of these yellow chasis G12-50 40Hz speakers, and therefore, would appreciate your feedback.

That is not a guitar speaker. I think they are for bass or PA, and have a 2"voice coil. My advice would be to ditch it and buy something else. Stick to the common guitar models. Standard tuned guitar will get nowhere near 40Hz.

Speakers with whizzer cones tend to sound awful with distortion, they are usually very thin and fizzly sounding speakers unless you surgically remove that whizzer in the center. The surgery is usually very easy to do, but it is only worth doing if the main cone is ribbed, the smooth cone speakers tend to sound pants too in my experience.

Not all celestions were designed for guitar use.
