2x12 for Metro JTM45 build

Post by AlecMac44 » Tue Jul 12, 2016 7:58 pm

I have a Metro JTM45 build with Gold Lion KT66s. Currently, I'm playing it through a 2x12 Traynor cab with g12ms. The cab's speakers are angled to boost lows and tame highs. I know JTM 45s are extremely bassy as is, but this cab and the speakers seem a bit too muddy for my liking, (maybe its just the cab and not the speakers?). Anyways, I have a new custom 2x12 that looks like a mini 1960a cab and want to put new speakers in it. Deciding between Scumbacks and Eminence. Jim from Scumback recommended an h75 and j75 together. Im looking for the Cream era Clapton, Duane Allman, Mick Taylor, Peter Green, early Angus Young, Jimmy Page, Kossoff, realm of tone. Any suggestions?

With those preferences, I'd go for alnico M and H style speakers (not alnico). With a 45, I'd recommend at least one g12H, preferably a 75hz cone

I have M and H style speakers in a Mojotone 2x12, and that works well with my JTM45/100 clone.
